THE CONTEMPORARY “FREE BESIEGED”

Workshop for persons with disabilities

 

Marginalization, diversity, racism. Are we actually free? The modern struggles for equality, recognition, accessibility, social integration. A workshop Inspired by one of the epic works of Dionysios Solomos: The Free Besieged, that praises the struggle of the de- fenders of Messolonghi, the human struggle for the inner freedom.

ANIMATED WATERCOLORS

Workshop for Elderly Care Center of Syros

After one year of absence the Elderly Care Center of Syros is back! Together we will celebrate the 200th anniversary of 1821 revolution in a slight… different way! What’s the relationship between watercolors and Delacroix’s famous painting “The Slaughter of Chios”? Do watercolors move? Can the paintings come to life? Come with us to discover all these together in a 2 day animation workshop where anything is possible!

WELL, IT’S, MOVING!

Workshop for children

The heroes, their victims, our lives. The sketch… two lines that speak our language… The slightest change can change the meaning as a divisive or a different punctuation mark…. The so far inanimate objects turn into flesh and blood. They converse and they make fun of themselves. Satire – cartoon – comedian: Three con- cepts, a common denominator…Humor in every way… Reasons to make us laugh. Reasons to make others laugh. Reasons to live better.

ANIMATING THE PAST

Workshop for teenagers

 

This is an animation workshop dedicated to teaching basic principles of 2D animation to a young audience that might want to pursue a career in this particular domain. The theme of the 3 day workshop will be built around the folk stories of the Sons of Samarina / Exodus and will be a fusion between history and ani- mation, bringing the past back to life in the context of the Greek Revolution 200 year anniversary.

Where: Lyceum of Greek Women of Syros

The workshop will be held in English and Greek.

ΚΙΝΟΥΜΕΝΗ ΕΛΕΥΘΕΡΙΑ

Workshop for adults

 

Animative thoughts on the concept of “freedom”: Free will, Freedom of movement, freedom of information, freedom of speech. Workshop participants will explore the topic from their own personal perspective through a short animated exercise in mixed media technique. A playful experience on giving life to an animated col- lage and symbolism of freedom inspired by the work of the Greek artist Georgia Fabris.

Where: Cultural Center of Hermoupolis

The workshop will be held in English.

 

Σε συνεργασία με την Ελληνική Κοινότητα Σικελίας «Τρινακρία» και το project «WAAG We Are All Greeks!».

 

In collaboration with the Hellenic Community of Sicily «Trinakria» and the project “WAAG. We Are All Greeks!”.The temporary exhibition – held in Palermo, curated by Francesco Piazza and based on an idea of Vassilis Karabatsas and Francesco Piazza- presents works by Greek and Italian artists, who according to Piazza -curator of the exhibition- «have done a very important interpretive work updating ideals and content about the Greek Revolution and asking new questions about how they changed after 200 years, but also how many of them are still valid and alive in the consciousness of each of them”.
