ANIMASYROS 2025 presents, on Friday, September 26 at 18:30 at the Apollon Theater, the event of the European Parliament Office in Greece, titled
"Budget and Culture: Can Europe Reach Syros?". As the European Union prepares its next long-term budget, an important question arises: how does financial planning translate into cultural progress?
Within the framework of ANIMASYROS 2025, the established discussion hosted by the European Parliament Liaison Office in Athens focuses on the Lux Awards - an institution that brings European citizens together through cinema, promoting pluralism, democracy, and artistic boldness. Participants include Matīss Kaža, screenwriter of the Oscar-winning animated film Flow, and Maria Kontogianni, producer of Animal by Sofia Exarchou. The discussion will be moderated by Konstantinos Tsoutsoplidis, Head of the European Parliament Liaison Office in Greece.
The event is open to the public and invites both residents and visitors of Syros to engage in a fruitful dialogue about the future of European culture — a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and proposals at a time when Europe is shaping its priorities for the years ahead.
The discussion will be held in English with simultaneous live streaming available here.
The discussion will be immediately followed by a reception, hosted by the European Parliament Liaison Office, in the courtyard of the Apollon Theatre.
