The official presentation of the ANIMASYROS 2024 powered by PPC programme was held at the Byzantine & Christian Museum: award-winning films, international guests from around the world, special tributes, educational workshops, Agora activities, and a variety of parallel events are coming to the capital of the Cyclades!

The official presentation of the ANIMASYROS 2024 powered by PPC programme was hosted at the Byzantine and Christian Museum in Athens on Monday 16 September, in the presence of distinguished guests, artists, animation professionals, supporters and friends of the Festival.

The President of ANIMASYROS, Vassilis C. Karamitsanis, was the main host of the event, which featured simultaneous interpretation in Greek sign language.

Yiorgos Tsaprounis, Chairman of the Board of the Byzantine and Christian Museum, welcomed the audience, stating that the Museum is an open space that supports all forms of contemporary art, including, of course, animation.

Leonidas Christopoulos, CEO of the new national body for cinema and audiovisual policy, EKKOMED - Creative Greece, was also present at the event and delivered a greeting to the audience.

PPC, the official sponsor of this year's Festival, was represented by Sofia Dimtsa, the General Director of Corporate Relations and Communications of the Group, who stated, among other things: “Energy and moving images are two concepts that are intrinsically linked, as both are driven by the same internal force: the desire for creation and renewal. Sustainable development, which is a key pillar of our strategy, is closely connected to culture, the soul of our society. Through the ANIMASYROS 2024 powered by PPC Festival, we have the opportunity to strengthen this connection by promoting creativity, innovation, and sustainability.”

The official air transport carrier of the Festival and supporter of the Agora Pitching Forum this year is SKY express. Vasso Christidi, the General Director of the IOGR Group (SKY express), emphasized that, “For the fourth consecutive year, SKY express is giving its wings to ANIMASYROS, showcasing our commitment to culture and supporting creators. This journey represents participation and inclusion for us. Last year, we supported the Pitching Forum and the Agora, opening new horizons for creators’ ideas. This year, we are taking it a step further by inviting them to share our vision and journey through the creation of an animation film inspired by us, with their own wings, and ultimately destined for the Annecy Animation Festival in 2025.”

Subsequently, greetings were delivered by the Ambassadors of Latvia, Lithuania, the Slovak Republic, and Portugal, as well as the Attaché for Audiovisual Affairs from the Embassy of France in Greece.

A particularly touching moment occurred when the short film "Ninety Seconds for Arleta", dedicated to the great creator, was screened. This is the fifth film in the "Ninety Seconds" series by ANIMASYROS in collaboration with the radio station Melodia 99.2. The film was presented by Dimitris Vrachnos, the Director of Melodia 99.2, and singer-songwriter Yiorgis Christodoulou, who performed a new rendition of Arleta's beloved song "Mikra Paidia" for the project.

Immediately after, Maria Anestopoulou, the Artistic Director of ANIMASYROS, along with Programme Coordinator Stefanos Alan Kollias and Yiannis Lolis, who coordinates the Agora with Marineta MAK Kritikou, presented the Festival programme, which they described as "the richest programme in the history of ANIMASYROS."
